My style leans more to the verbose side with varying sentence structures. I enjoy this form of writing because it allows for complex thought and descriptions, as well as allow for a more uninterrupted flow. My voice in this paper remains passive; I still need to incorporate my personality as a writer within the essay. I have not taken that many risks but I think I will try to craft some wit and side commentary (meta-commentary.) Usually I am sardonic and cynical in life so to accomplish it; I don’t think I will have to scan outside of my current mentality, putting false thought into the paper. Instead just I will just let myself open a little more and not worry about remaining distant and professional.
As for my outside sources I am having some trouble, since the band I am researching, VNV Nation remains hidden underground. But I did find some information. The most exceptional findings are two interviews with the main vocalist, Ronan Harris. He is very loquacious, which provides me with a lot of material on the origin of the music; however, as for professional, noteworthy critique on the sound, I still remain unsatisfied. The FIU Website did not provide me with info either so I will have to find another way to circumvent this problem.
Obviously, the piece still has much room for improvement; therefore I will have to keep trying different approaches to fulfill the assignment. Hopefully the final product will show itself to be satisfactory by the standards of this class.
